One of the most intense pleasures that can be experienced in the course of any given day is the extremely subtle pleasure of lingering a few minutes before going to dinner and preventing languor from turning into hunger, sipping a cool, light drink and savoring small delicacies. The palate and stomach, already prepared for dinner, do not find the satisfaction they were expecting, but they are so receptive that they savor more intensely than usual what is given to them.This is the soul of the aperitif, a ritual that has been repeated daily for decades in Italian bars and squares, where thousands of people meet to spend an hour together, telling each other the events and impressions of the day in front of some canapés and a Spritz (the typical aperitif drink based on white wine, Campari or Aperol, soda water and ice). It is a custom that, in its various variations, has been known since the 19th century, and that has definitively become part of the history of Italian customs since the 1920s.

Babylon Cinema presents "Cinemaperitivo: vi raccontamo l´Italia" a series of screenings followed by an aperitif inside the cinema. The lowest common denominator of the series is history: that of Italy past and present narrated through classic films and new productions, and that of the impressions and personal stories of the spectators who after the screenings will be encouraged to tell and exchange stories while eating pizza and/or focaccia and sipping the Spritz included in the ticket price.The alternation of screenings of old and new films allows us to read the history of Italy without forgetting current trends and looking towards the future. Thanks to the collaboration of the Italian Cultural Institute, some titles not yet distributed in Germany will be presented to the public, and possibly to interested distributors, and could thus find here, outside of the big festivals, a new opportunity to make themselves known and find a market.
