The television career of fitness celebrity Elisabeth Sparkle (Demi Moore) comes to an abrupt end when she is fired by her producer. Hesitantly, she seizes the opportunity offered by a mysterious new miracle cure: The Substance. A single injection is all it takes and she becomes - for a precisely limited period of time - a youthfully beautiful woman in her mid-twenties called Sue (Margaret Qualley).
