Andreas Dresen's film draws on actual events involving Hilde and Hans Coppi and the anti-Nazi resistance group Rote Kapelle. It presents a more or less timeless narrative of overpowering love, of basic decency and resistance, of intuition and the fortitude required to own the dignitiy of one's convictions, of dignity and fear; and of the courage to speak out. An emotional movie that gets under your skin. Tonight's screening takes place in cooperation with the Berlin section of the Association of Persecutees of the Nazi Regime—Federation of Antifascists.
