The wealthy Mr. Earnshaw (Martin Clunes) takes the orphan Heathcliff (Owen Cooper) into his family. He grows up on the remote Wuthering Heights estate, where he is tolerated but not accepted. He only develops an emotional connection with Cathy (Charlotte Mellington), the daughter of the house. Years later, when the now-adult Cathy (Margot Robbie) decides, for social reasons, to marry the wealthy Edgar Linton (Shazad Latif), Heathcliff's (Jacob Elordi) world falls apart. He leaves Wuthering Heights and returns years later, hardened inside and driven by a plan for revenge, which he pursues with icy determination: He wants to humiliate and destroy Cathy in the same way he once felt humiliated by her and the society she represents. Adapted from the 1847 novel of the same name by Emily Brontë.
