During the screening, the lights remain on. Holly Golightly skillfully hides her past from others and prefers to devote herself to the finer things in life. Secretly, she is looking for a rich husband, but the penniless writer Paul Varjak slowly wins her heart. She turns him down, however, and instead agrees to marry wealthy landowner José da Silva Pereira. But then her ex-husband turns up and Holly's secrets slowly come to light.
