Margarethe von Trotta Retrospektive: Il Lungo Silenzio

The peace and quiet of everyday life in the marriage of doctor Carla Aldrovani and judge Marco Canova has come to an end since Marco began investigating a corruption case: members of the government are involved with the mafia in arms trafficking and bribery. Despite his bodyguards, Marco is killed in an attack. But Carla refuses to give up: With great courage and civic courage, she continues her husband's research and encourages other surviving wives of mafia victims to speak out. They organize solidarity and, together, go public with their knowledge.
