Cine en Español Presents - Sundays
Yorck Passage, Berlin

In the tragicomedy FLIES, Mexican director Fernando Eimbcke tells the story of a boy who struggles his way through Mexico City to visit his terminally ill mother in the hospital – and in the process thoroughly turns the carefully controlled world of a retired woman upside down. We’re screening the new film by one of the most important voices in contemporary Latin American cinema as part of Cine en Español, followed by a discussion with director Fernando Eimbcke.
Olga lives a strictly regulated life without attachments in a vast apartment block. When out of financial necessity she rents a room in her apartment to a man who also sneaks-in his nine-year-old son, an unlikely bond forms.
