Few countries can match Mexico’s one-two punch of cuisine and cinema, so it’s only right that Mexico becomes the first culture we’ve ever featured twice at Films for Foodies. And this time, we pay our respects to those no longer with us.
On November 1st, as families across Mexico build ofrendas, light candles, and lay marigolds to welcome loved ones home for Día de los Muertos, we invite you to a celebration of life and Mexican culture at the Kino & Bar. We’ll be screening an Oscar-winning animated love letter to the holiday - about a boy who dreams of music, a family that forbids it, and a bridge of marigold petals leading straight into the Land of the Dead.
Once the credits roll, we'll share our community dinner around the bar, where caterer extraordinaire Ellen Kleiber with serve a festive food offering curated specifically for the holiday vibe.
