Rona once lived for the nights – club, drink, drama, repeat. London was her territory, her glass always full, the music always loud. But at some point, everything changes: The parties get longer, the falls get deeper, and the people around her disappear. The Outrun begins by telling the story of a wild life in the fast lane – and then of how difficult it is to escape when your entire existence pulsates to the rhythm of clubs and after-hours parties.

Rona looks damn good: ripped jeans, clear eyes, tousled hair – a character straight out of a Berlin night novel. But beneath the surface, things are simmering: she's going through withdrawal, but her body feels numb. The breakup with her long-term partner is painful, her heart is burning. So back to where it all began – or where it all went wrong. Rona returns to the stormy Orkney Islands, a place somewhere between rugged nature and childhood memories, where the biggest club is the local supermarket. Between wind, waves, quirky islanders, and a past that never really went away, the struggle to come down – and to rediscover herself – begins.

Berlin director Nora Fingscheidt, known for the festival hit "Systemsprenger," brings this story to the screen with just the right blend of power, empathy, and electrifying imagery. Instead of consternation: raw poetry. Instead of finger-wagging: a soundtrack and longing. In the lead role: Saoirse Ronan – cooler than ever, edgy, vulnerable, strong.
