In Muslim-majority Malaysia, the punk band “Shh...Diam!” defiantly shouts what its name means: shut up. Led by transman Faris and joined by bandmates Yon and Yoyo, the group fights silence through their music, camaraderie, and radical presence. Set against Malaysia’s shifting political climate, Queer as Punk captures the band’s candid and humorous reflections on gender, love, family, anxiety, and hope. A portrait of queer resilience and defiance, the film reminds us that survival can be loud, messy, and utterly irresistible. (CiLENS)
