Re-Enter The Matrix, And Help Us Name Our New Music Series

Sound meets cinema in our latest community film series

If you’ve ever found yourself humming a movie theme weeks after you left the theater, or if a song can instantly take you back to your favorite film moments, then you understand the magic we’re chasing with our new series. Music doesn’t just complement cinema; it elevates it, transforms it, and can become more iconic than the visuals themselves. That’s why we’re excited to announce ReSee’s newest film series, generically called the Music Series for now…until you help us name it!

The afterparty’s in the same spot

Picture this: You’ve just finished watching The Matrix the way it was intended to be seen: on a big screen with booming sound.  As the end credits roll, the sweeping bass-kick of Rob Dougan’s “Clubbed to Death” Kurayamino Variation still reverberates in your chest. That high-octane electronic energy doesn’t just fade away, it amplifies. You emerge from the auditorium right as the DJ plays their first booming track, luring you directly onto an awaiting dance floor. In front of your eyes, The Matrix’s DNA (code) evolves into a dance party that extends the cinematic experience into the real world.

That’s exactly what we’re building.

In ReSee’s Music Series, we’ll screen films famous for their soundtracks and film scores, then combine them with live music right there in the same venue. It might be techno, folk, classical, rock, hip hop, and beyond...but whatever it is, we’ll curate a program that celebrates just how important music is to the art of cinema.

Setting it all off with The Matrix

It’s only fitting that we launch this series with a movie that changed Hollywood forever and made many of us desperate to be old enough to get into a club. The Matrix didn’t just revolutionize visual effects; its soundtrack, featuring mind-bending electronica and metal from artists like The Prodigy, Rob Zombie, and Deftones, brought underground music to many people who had never heard anything like it before (okay, maybe a few of your true Berliners were already on that wave, but for the rest of us, it was an awakening).

What and Where:

The screening starts at 8 p.m., followed by live DJ performances that’ll turn the cinema into Zion. We’re recreating that feeling of discovery, that moment when sound and story collide to create something greater than the sum of their parts.

Help us name this series!

Just like our community helped rename Dystopian Dating to Reel Love, we need your brilliance to find the perfect name for our music-focused series. Whether you’re thinking Sonic Cinema, Reel Rhythms, or something way better than either of those, we want to hear what you’ve got.

Have a good name suggestion? Drop it in our survey, and if your name is picked, expect some nice goodies as a thank you from ReSee!

What’s next

We’ll aim for a new Music Series event about once a month (perhaps a little less frequently as we get up to speed), each one pairing a film with a different music genre that showcases the power of sound in storytelling. Think folk melodies with indie darlings, orchestral scores with epic fantasies, or hip-hop beats with urban dramas. In a city known around the world for its music scene, we’re putting that same spirit into a night at the cinema.
