reseemovies.com is Back and Better than Ever!

ReSee Fam, it's been a while!

Sure, we've been active on Instagram and those of you who live in Berlin may have caught us at one of our events, but things were pretty quiet on this website for quite some time. And that's why it feels so good to be welcoming you back.

After many months in the proverbial editing room, we’re thrilled to welcome you to the new-and-improved reseemovies.com - a website that we aim to make an invaluable resource to movie lovers, community builders, and appreciators of culture all around the world.

If you're reading this, it's likely that you're one of our "Day 1s" who have supported us through all the ups-and-downs, given us constructive feedback, and supported us every step of the way. So before we go any further, I just wanted to say thank you. Quite literally, ReSee would not exist if it weren't for you all. While we're getting better and smarter about marketing ourselves, it's undoubtedly been your genuine interest, your eagerness to spread the word, and your encouragement during tough times that kept us motivated and gave us the fuel we needed to come back better than ever. In a way, you all built this website.

In another way, though, Mike built this website, and it's pretty sick. So let's check it out!

We've come a long way since our launch party at Moviemento. And we've got a long way to go!

A Quick Recap Of Our Journey

When we first launched ReSee Movies in early 2024, we had a big, bold mission: to challenge an outdated film distribution system that has watched as moviegoing culture withered on the vine. While short-form and user-generated content exploded and took over the "attention economy", movies largely stayed the same. And movie theaters? Forced to dole out the same-old-same-old while the industry's biggest players kneecaped their golden geese so they could focus on building up their own streaming services. And while they may have realized that they needed movie theaters more than they thought, cinemas are still stuck in a vacuum of innovation and are struggling to keep up with streamers, gamers, and content creators.

We believed (and still do) that cinemas are essential—not just as a medium for watching movies, but as a place where people gather. For our generation, COVID will always be a poignant reminder that we can't take our communities and our community spaces for granted. And even though the convenience of streaming is pretty awesome (even I, your loyal movie theater evangelist, watch far more movies on streaming than I do in cinemas), the act of going to a cinema, shutting off your cell phone, experiencing the movie with the rest of the audience and without disruption, then emerging together from that black box is still the best way to experience a film. And it's how the culture of moviegoing will remain relevant for future generations.

Movie nights that bridge the gap between cinema and culture (from our first Films for Foodies event April 2025)

ReSee Movies was always aimed at breathing life into moviegoing culture...but to behonest, our first version just didn’t hit the mark.

We realized something important: we weren’t going to change the industry from the top down—and we didn’t need to. What we could do, and what Berlin is uniquely positioned for, is something more grassroots: highlighting and contributing to a community of people who are already putting love, creativity, and care into the moviegoing experience with their own unique, people-centric movie programming.

From cozy Freiluftkino screenings under the stars to humanitarian fundraisers, insightful Q&As, and inclusive cultural meetups, Berlin still boasts a thriving film community that deserves a spotlight. And while these event organizers may not be poised (or interested) to scale up and become the new backbone of the theatrical exhibition, they are certainly leading by example and providing our city with a wealth of worthy movie night options that are more than just a traditional film screening.

And that's we come in; the new-and-improved ReSee Movies is designed to be the platform that brings cinema programmers together and helps our community members discover, track, and attend the most unforgettable movie nights in Berlin. The all-new reseemovies.com is designed with one simple goal: helping you find movie nights that are actually worth leaving the house for.

We'll continue advertising our events on social media, in our newsletter, and everywhere else events are found. But keeping an eye on reseemovies.com is the best way to keep track of what's coming up - like our first WanderWatch event this Tuesday!

What to Expect from ReSee

One central place to browse Berlin’s coolest movie events

Let's face it: a lot of movie theater websites feel painfully outdated, and their UX design is...lacking. It makes the process of tracking interesting screenings a lot more cumbersome, especially if you live in a city like Berlin where you have more than a handful of cinemas to consider. You shouldn’t have to open 12 tabs to plan a night out, which is what we're hoping to solve with our Events page. This is where we'll list ALL of the unique movie experiences we find, including those from other organizers unaffiliated with ReSee. We want to help them get the word out and help you find them as easily as possible!

A hub for ReSee’s own world-class events

One major way we plan to revitalize moviegoing culture is by curating world-class cinema experiences that we believe should become the new gold standard for cinemas: events that provide experiences one could never get at home, curate cool physical spaces for movie lovers to hang out and connect, and fully embrace the beautiful diversity of both films and the film community.

After beginning our journey with our recurring Dystopian Dating event series, our goal is to continue launching awesome, culture-centric movie events at various locations throughout Berlin. Our Films for Foodies series had a fantastic launch event in late April, and we're working hard on getting another one on the books ASAP. We're also just about to have our first WanderWatch event, which is a series designed for travel enthusiasts to connect and explore the world from the comfort of a cinema. With more new event concepts on the near horizon, we know it'll get hard to keep track of everything we're doing. And reseemovies.com will be the best way to do so. You might even get a sneak peek of some new event concepts before they're announced 👀

A website built for YOU

In its current form, our site is only the tip of the iceberg; we're gonna keep building new features and functions that connect our community to more movie nights. But rather than guess at what you all need most, we want to hear from you, learn as much as we can about your moviegoing/watching habits, and build new features until ReSee is an essential resource for movie lovers everywhere.

To everyone who's gotten us this far: thank you for all of your support. We truly would not be here without you.

A Favor or Two from the ReSee Fam

We know it’s not perfect yet, and we need your eyes, your ideas, and yes—your brutally honest feedback to make reseemovies.com the resource we believe it can be. If you could spare a little bit of your time to explore our website to tell us what you like and dislike, it would mean the world to us. Also, if you could tell 1 or 2 of your biggest cinephile friends about us, especially if they're based here in Berlin, we would really appreciate that, too 🥹

To everyone who's gotten us this far: thank you for all of your support. And to those of you who are new to our family, we can't wait to get to know you, share a movie experience together, and together build the ReSee Movies community into something truly special.

Take care of each other,

Ty
