“I am the fire of life” – Vinyl Rush #77 draws a musical line from Bob Dylan via Iggy Pop to PJ Harvey.

Following the cinematic success of LIKE A COMPLETE UNKNOWN, which traces Bob Dylan's early years as a folk and soon rock star, Vinylrausch #77 is dedicated to the album that was recorded in the film:

On August 30, 1965, Highway 61 Revisited, an iconic album in rock history, was released. Dylan blends blues and folk with the urgent beat of rock music. Future generations will each identify with the enigmatic imagery of the songs, with which Dylan bids farewell to his perceived image as a 'protest singer.' Highway 61 Revisited (1965), released 60 years ago, is September's Album of the Month.

Iggy Pop carried Dylan's two '65 albums under his arm for years. Dylan had a profound influence on him, even if it might not be immediately apparent in the short sentences of the lyrics and the raw energy of the Stooges' music on Funhouse (1970).

Two generations later, it's PJ Harvey who expresses her enthusiasm for Bob Dylan in her captivating cover version of the song "Highway 61 Revisited." We hear the wonderfully rich PJ Harvey album "Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea" (2000).

Vinylrausch #77 will take place on October 16th at 7:30 PM at the Sputnik Kino am Südstern.
